FAQ
In this section, you can check out some of the answers to some of the most frequently asked questions.
Q: Can I have my Gurmex membership transferred to a different account?
A: Account transfer is not available. Every user who has a mail account can sign up for our mobile application. If you request the transfer of locations, blogs, routes and posts you have saved in your profile, this process is not necessary anyway. Every account that follows you can log in to your profile and see the places, blogs, routes and posts you’ve added. If she/he wants, can transfer content from your profile to her/his profile by saving. If you have a different reason for you, you can send us an e-mail at info@gurmex.com.
Q: How can I search on Gurmex?
A: You can search for locations by tapping the “Magnifying glass” button in the upper left corner of the map menu. You can use the “Magnifying glass” button in the upper left corner of the timeline to search for contacts and Timeline posts. Before typing in the search word, you should make sure that you toggle between the “People” and “Timeline” buttons. In future versions, all search rods will be gathered under one roof.
Q: How can I find users on Gurmex?
A: Tap “Magnifying glass” button located in the upper left corner of the timeline. After that tap the button “People“. Finally, start looking for a name.
Q: Why can’t I see traffic data where I am?
A: We pull traffic and road condition information from Google API. If you do not see live traffic for your area, there is a chance that your area is not available at the moment or traffic data cannot be tracked.
Q: Why Gurmex application features do not work? / Why Gurmex application do not doing what I want?
A: If you notice that the features are not working properly, please send an e-mail to info@gurmex.com. Do not forget to write your username and e-mail along with detailed explanations of the problem you are experiencing!
Q: Can I schedule a simultaneous trip with my friends?
A: Co-Creating is one of the first features we want to bring to life for future versions. In the near future, we will allow you to collaborate on a trip with your travel companions. Simultaneously, you will be able to review the journey with your friends, make changes or make suggestions. Any changes made to a trip will be updated on everyone’s devices simultaneously. We also plan to send an email to everyone on the trip 24 hours after a trip has been saved or edited, about the last changes made.

1. Go to the profile menu and open your journey in the “Routes” section.
2. Tap the “See on Map” button on the route sharing screen and wait for the route to open on the map.
3. After the route is opened on the map, tap the “Route Planner” button in the lower left corner.
4. Tap the “People” button at the top of the “Route Planner” screen.
5. Enter a friend’s email address or invite from their contacts.
6. Your trip will be shared with your friends and they will be invited to start organizing with you. If they already have an account, the trip will be automatically synced with their account.
Q: Can I upload offline maps to my profile?
A: There is no offline map download or upload feature in our application. Currently, you can only use Gurmex if you have internet access but the good news is that we are working on future versions.
Q: How can I change the map style?
A: Our Gurmex iOS and Android mobile apps contain 3 different map designs. You can follow the steps below to switch between map styles to suit your preferences.
1. Go to Profile>Settings.
2. Tap on the Map Style heading under the Settings heading.
3. Select the map style you want to use by swiping the images left from the drop-down window. The map is instantly adjusted according to the style of the map you choose – Plan(Sketch), Satellite and Dark.
4. Dark style is only available for Android devices.
Q: How can I view live traffic?
A: Live traffic is the one of our favorite features because it allows you to check traffic conditions before visiting your favorite place right from within the Gurmex app! You can do this with or without loading a trip on the map. You can follow the steps below to enable the live traffic view!
1. Go to Profile>Settings or tap the “Gear wheel” button in the lower left corner of the map menu.
2. Turn on/off the Traffic button under the Settings heading. Open/close from the window opened in the map menu as a shortcut.
3. When you select Enable Traffic, live traffic will be instantly shown on the map!
Travel Planning
Q: Can I change the starting point of my journey?
A: Yes you can! You can enter your Start and Destination point when you tap the “Start” button on the map. You can also tap on the My Location option and mark your current point as a start. We are trying to set its current location by default to the best we can detect from your device. If your starting location is wrong or you want to start traveling from another starting point, you can easily delete it from the screen. Once deleted, type the address you want to start with, simply select the address you want from the suggested addresses in the pop-up window.
Q: Can I add places to the map?
A: End users cannot add locations directly to the map! Only high level accounts (Foodie, Gourmand, Gurmex Writer, Gurmex Plus) can add new places to the map. If a place you want to add to your journey is missing from the map, you should wait for an writer to visit that place! But if you do not want to wait and want to add good places to the map, fill out our application form. You can fill in the Foodie Application Form in the Profile>Settings section and send your request to us. We will be pleased to review your application and see you as an writer among us.
Q: Can I add the same place to my trip twice?
A: Currently, each location can only be added to routes once. But we continue to work for future versions.
Q: Can I customize my route that I opened in different navigation in the mobile application?
A: You cannot synchronize the routes you create in different navigation applications with Gurmex. Therefore, sightseeing routes cannot be changed within the application. This is because the route we show as the “fastest route” does not mean that it is the route your navigation application will recommend. Yandex or Google Maps can choose a different, more efficient route for you to follow. If you use Gurmex navigation instead of another navigation app, you will have less margin of error and error on your route during your journey.
The best way to plan a new trip or change the existing route is to create and organize the entire journey from within the Gurmex app. After changing and saving the route, all you have to do is load the trip on the map and get directions. If you want, you can continue to your destination with a different navigation application. However, place pins can only be viewed on the Gurmex map.
Q: Can I filter the places on the route according to the categories?
A: Yes you can! After creating the route, you have to click on the “List” icon in the lower right corner of the map menu. At the top of the screen that opens, there will be 2 options, “Sort” and “Filter“. In the “Sort” field, you can sort by score, by location, by place name. From the “Filter” field, you can filter by the name of the writer who recommended the place. After narrowing the place options, you can add the places you want to your journey.
Q: Can I edit KM/L or MPG for my vehicle?
A: You can select KM, MIL distance type and TL, EURO, USD currency under “Units” in Profile>Settings. We are currently calculating the average fuel consumption. However, in future versions, you will be able to adjust the fuel consumption per km/mile by selecting the vehicle type, model and fuel type you prefer.
Q: Can I edit my route to avoid toll highway, bridge and ferry routes?
A: It is currently not possible to avoid routes because we are using the Google API. Google decides the routes. But we continue to work for future versions.
Q: Can I add notes to places and stops on my trip?
A: You cannot add notes to the places and stops on the routes at the moment. But we continue to work for future versions.
Q: Can I add a stop to my trip by entering GPS coordinates?
A: Currently, no stops can be added to your trip with GPS coordinates. But for more information on adding locations to the map, you can check out the “Add a Place to the Map” heading in the Learning Center.
Q: Can I specify how far I want to go on the route to see the places?
A: You cannot determine how far and up to how many km2 you can view the places on the routes at the moment. But we continue to work for future versions.
Q: Can I delete routes from my profile?
A: Have routes you no longer need? No problem! You can easily delete it from your profile under Routes.

1. Go to Profile>Routes in the app.
2. Tap the “Trash” button in the upper right corner of the routes and select Delete Trip.
3. You will be asked to confirm that you want to delete the trip, click delete or return.
Q: Can I drop a pin at any point on the map?
A: Currently, you cannot add a pin at any point on the map. But we continue to work for future versions.
General
Q: I cannot login to my account, what should I do?
A: If you get an error that your email or password is invalid or incorrect, you must tap the “Reset Password” button on the login screen to request an email with instructions to reset your password.
If your email address and/or username is available in our system, you will receive an email with instructions on resetting your password. If you don’t see the password reset email in your inbox, please make sure you check your spam or junk mail folder.
Q: Can I get direct navigation or voice assistance during my journey?
A: You can use in-app navigation or any other navigation application installed on your mobile device such as Google Maps, Yandex or Apple Maps with the Gurmex application. Gurmex does not provide street by street and continuous navigation services for the entire journey. Keep in mind that it only provides navigation access with a bird’s-eye view throughout the journey, with location tracking between the start and destination point. But Gurmex also works in perfect sync with your favorite navigation app on your phone. We hope to provide a solution for continuous navigation that will accompany you on your future journey!
Starting Gurmex Navigation
After creating a route on the map, you can use Gurmex navigation by tapping the “Start” button in the “Route Information” window. You can start Gurmex navigation by tapping the “Go” button in the place windows that appear on the Explore>Nearby screen. You can use Gurmex navigation by tapping the “Route” button on each place page.
Starting Google Maps, Yandex, Apple Maps Navigation
When you create a route on the map or load a saved trip, the “Navigation” button comes to the upper right corner of the map. By tapping this button, you can choose your favorite application (Google Maps, Yandex, Apple Maps) from the window that opens and continue your journey. You can start your journey with your favorite map application when you enter any site page and tap the “Navigation” button. Provides full synchronization with Gurmex map applications.
NOTE: Keep in mind that when navigation is provided from a separate application, the route will depend entirely on the directions for that application. Choosing Gurmex navigation instead of another navigation application provides a perfect experience at the point of the travel route and the arrangement of the places.
Q: Can I print my journey before I hit the road?
A: Gurmex is an application that only works on mobile platforms. You cannot currently print the route planning page or any map route views. However, we continue to work on offline maps and routes for future versions.
Q: Can I use Gurmex on more than one device?
A: Absolutely! You can log into your Gurmex account from multiple devices to access your cruises. Routes and changes made to trips are automatically synced with your account on the mobile app or other devices you sign in to. The opposite is also true. But don’t be sure that you are logged into the same account on both devices.
When looking at your trips in the Profile section of the mobile app, don’t you see the automatically synced trips? You have to try pulling down the page to refresh. If refreshing the profile doesn’t help, please log out and check again.
Q: Can I make caravan (RV), camping vehicle and route settings for my trip?
A: Gurmex currently has no settings for motorcycles, cars, vans, buses, caravans (RVs) and camping vehicles based on size and weight, such as width, length, height. But we plan to include these features for calculations like route planning and average fuel consumption in the future, stay tuned!
Q: Can I login to Gurmex with methods such as Facebook, Twitter, Google, Apple ID?
A: You can currently register manually by email only. You cannot log in with 3rd party applications such as Facebook, Twitter, Google, and Apple ID. But we continue to work for future versions.
Signing up for Gurmex is free and it only takes a minute to create an account.
Q: Is my information shared with other apps that I haven’t registered for?
A: Never! You can be sure that we will not share the information you have registered with Gurmex and signed in with any partner application for which you have not explicitly registered.
Q: How can I report a place, route, share or map issue on Gurmex?
A: If you find that incorrect information about a place needs to be corrected, temporarily or permanently closed, please report the issue to us.
You can reach us from the “Feedback/Contact” Form under Profile>Settings. If the error or problem is in the time tunnel, you can report the problem to us by tapping the 3 points on the upper right corner of the posts and tapping the “Report/Report Error” button from the window that opens.
Q: How can I update the privacy setting for my trip?
A: You cannot currently set privacy for any trip. But we continue to work for future versions.
You will be able to determine who can see your routes in future versions. When you set the route privacy to public, anyone using the application will be able to access their routes. When route privacy is set to private, only you and the people you jointly invite to your trip will view the trip. Of course, the default of each newly recorded trip will come publicly.
Q: How can I share my trips with my friends?
A: Gurmex has several different sharing options. So you can share your trips, places, blogs and timeline posts with your friends! The Share button is a useful tool located in the gray bar at the bottom of many screens of the application.
When you share a trip, your friends can view the trip you have planned but cannot make changes or suggestions for the trip. Collaborative journey planning is a feature that you can use in future versions.
Share the Route
When you go to the Profile>Routes section in the application and select the trip, the route page will appear on the screen. If you tap the view route on map button, the map opens. You can share the route with your friends by tapping the “Share” button in the gray bar at the bottom of the page.
Share Place
If you are looking at a place page in the mobile application, you can tap the “Share” button in the gray bar at the bottom of the screen and share the place with your friends.
Your friends can view the trip you have planned but cannot make changes or suggestions for the trip when you share a trip. Collaborative journey planning (co-creating) is a feature that you can use in future versions.
Q: Can I add photos to places?
A: Higher level accounts (Foodie, Gourmand, Gurmex writer and Gurmex plus) can upload photos to places. If you are an higher level account and have visited a place, you can share photos in the place galleries. Photos are a great way to help other users find out what the place looks like!
There is a “Camera” button in the upper right corner of each place page. It only appears on higher level accounts. Tapping this button opens the photos in a list. In the upper right corner of the screen that opens, there are 2 more buttons, “List” and “Camera“. You can upload place menus by tapping the “List” button, and photos of the place by tapping the “Camera” button.
After tapping the camera or photo button, the app will ask if you want to take a photo or choose from the available pictures.
If you upload incorrectly, you can delete the photos by tapping the (X) button on the upper right corner of the photos on the same screen.
Q: Can I embed a map on my website or blog?
A: Placing maps on websites and blogs with the help of an embedded code is only possible in applications with a desktop site. Gurmex currently only works on Android and iOS mobile devices. However, we continue to work on the desktop website for future versions.
Q: Where can I report Copyright or GPDR infringement?
A: As a Gurmex, we take copyright and personal data violations very seriously.
1. If you live in Turkey or own any copyrighted material in Turkey and you think copyright has been violated, please contact us.
2. Although the US and EU do not have an official copyright notice procedure, if you reside in one of those countries, please follow the procedure outlined below.
The best way to report violated material to us is to send an e-mail to info@gurmex.com or to fill in the “Feedback/Contact” form under Settings.
Q: How can I delete my account?
A: If you wish to delete your account, please send us a request titled “Delete Account” at info@gurmex.com, including your email address and/or username. We will remove your account for you. If possible, please add a sentence or two explaining why you no longer want to be at Gurmex.
